A less brief introduction

I began writing about football at the youthful age of 13. It did not take long for me to con my way in to a job at the highly respectable footyjokes.net. My portfolio of articles on this website ranged from ‘4 reasons why Luis Suarez is hated’ to ’10 of the most loyal footballers’. It was slapstick writing, and definitely not intelligent work, but as a thirteen year old boy making 10$ an article and being paid through my mother’s papal account, I was convinced I had officially reached my intellectual and professional ceiling and had cracked the code of sports writing. A month later, I was left devastated and jobless as my beloved footyjokes.net had decided to stop operating.

Fast forward 4 years and I’m now closing in on my final year of high school education and am hopefully a much more refined writer and thinker, although I’d be silly to think I am even close to the complete package. I’ve recently become aware of the fact that any serious writer needs to have a place where they can showcase their work and so I’ll use this blog as my own storage vault of biased football opinions. I’ll attempt to offer critical analysis and original opinions on the modern day of football.

I’m a Chelsea supporter and will likely center my focus around them, but have an interest in most of the major leagues and the teams within those divisions. I can be contacted at nicholas.powell@bishops.org.za
